Understanding Listen TechnologyLike
your car stereo, FM Technology (called RF or Radio Frequency systems) uses a
transmitter to broadcast the audio and a receiver to pick up the signal and
change it back into sound. RF systems offer a large coverage area,
Generally
speaking, RF systems are easy to install and maintain, and are relatively
inexpensive and does not require a license to use.
Also similar to your FM radio, multiple channels can be broadcast by utilizes slightly different frequencies. This is extremely beneficial for such applications as language interpretation where multiple interpretations are being broadcast in the same area (referred to as "Simultaneous Channels"). And also like your favorite FM radio station, there are no limits to the number of receivers that can accept signal from the same transmitter.
Listen
employs two frequency bands, 72MHz and 216MHz. These are designated by the
Federal Communications Commission for auditory assistance, language
interpretation, tour groups, and other wireless audio applications. As such, you
can expect the following performance from your Listen wireless system
| 72 MHz | 216 MHz | |
| Simultaneous Channels | 6 simultaneous channels | 3 simultaneous channels |
| Sound Quality | Exceptional sound quality (SNR 80db, 50Hz to 15KHZ)* | Exceptional sound quality (SNR 80db, 50Hz to 10KHZ) |
| Transmission Range LT-800 STATIONARY Transmitter** |
500 - 1,500 foot range | 1,000 - 3,000 foot range |
| Transmission Range LT-700 PORTABLE Transmitter** |

Listen belt
pack units (LT-700,
LR-500,
LR-400
and LR-300)
use two AA batteries. Listen offers advanced nickel
metal hydride (NiMH) rechargeable batteries as well as high
performance alkaline batteries for all of our belt pack units.
Listen's
built in SmartChargeTM allows for direct recharging of the units - no need to
remove the batteries and to place them in a separate charger. The units will
also charge the correct amount automatically, so you don't need to worry about
overcharging.
As a general rule, you can expect the follow performance from your Listen products uses Listen provided batteries*:
| Alkaline | Nickel Metal Hydride (NiMH) | |
| Expectant life in LT-700 Portable TRANSMITTER |
16 hours |
8 hours |
| Expectant life in Portable RECEIVERS | 40 hours |
20 hours |
| Recharging time | NA | 13 hours |
| * These estimates are based on using Listen batteries from full charge to complete discharge. Your performance may vary, and these estimates are not applicable when using batteries not supplied by Listen Technologies Corp. | ||
