Types of Screens

Pull Down
or Wall Screens

Wall Screen.jpg (15937 bytes)

Spring roller operated screens can be either wall or ceiling mounted. Look for an opening in the case wider than the screen width to reduce friction between screen fabric and the lip of the case. A sturdy bond of fabric to the spring roller and heavy duty bonding of screen to bottom dowel deliver a flat projection surface and assure long life. Rugged and versatile, a spring roller operated screen is an economical way to go.

This style of screen can be either permanently mounted on a wall or in the ceiling with the appropriate fittings. T-Clips allow for mounting on dropped ceiling type "T" rails. These install in seconds without tools and can support up to 50 pounds. There are also models that install in a floor stand to be pulled up to open.

This style is available in sizes from 40" x 40" to a 15 foot diagonal.

Electric Screens

This screen has an electric motor contained in the core roller. Ceiling recessed or ceiling flush systems are both popular. Important is the screen surface flatness, as a perfectly flat projection surface results in better picture quality, especially for computer or video images. To assure a flat screen surface, choose a tab tensioned system with vinyl surfaces. Tab tensioned screens use either a built-in surface tensioning system or are screens which are permanently stretched on a frame and wall mounted. With heavier textile backed on fiberglass base materials, the weight of the fabric assures a flat surface.

Portable Fast-Fold Screens

Fast Fold Screen.jpg (126100 bytes)

Organizations use fastfold screens when they either: 1) like a better "look" to the presentation or 2) require a larger screen. Fast-Fold screens are comprised of the screen, frame, a screen skirt, dress kit and optional carry off drape.

Frame: Lightweight and foldable aluminum frames fit in a case for transportation. At the location, the frame is unfolded and locked into rigid shape. Legs are attached to the frame to raise it to the desired height.

Screen:  The screen is snapped onto the frame. The screen can be either front or rear projection.

Skirt:  Heavy velour drapery that attaches to the bottom of the frame and hides the legs and anything behind the screen.

Dress Kit:  Heavy velour attaches to the top of the frame (as a valance) and the sides (panels) which, with the skirt, provide a 'polished look' to the screen. It focuses attention on the screen images and frames your presentation.

Carry Off Drape:  6 foot sections of velour drape put on pipe (you can add as many sections as you desire). You can extend the theatre-like appearance to the right and/or left of the screen any desired distance.

Rear Projection Screens

Rear Projection screens are becoming increasingly popular. Rear projection enables viewers to enjoy bright, legible images without turning off lights. All the hardware and equipment are installed behind the screen. This provides a much more professional looking presentation. In addition, the projection beam can't be blocked by presenters standing in front of the screen while speaking or pointing out details.

Rear Projection screens are manufactured of either glass or acrylic substrate. Applied to either of these bases is an extremely fine, precise optical coating. Their are a variety of coatings formulated for different applications and projection conditions. Total available floor space is important with rear screen projection as you must have enough room behind the screen for the projection equipment and mirrors. Before allocating space for the booth, you should talk to us about the light conditions, size of room, size of audiences, ambient light and projection methods to expect. This way, we can help you make the choices that will assure you of the best images projected in the room.

Tripod
Screens

QUALITY TRIPOD SCREENS

Tripod legs on screens provide portability. When choosing a tripod screen, look for steel or heavy gauge aluminum legs, smooth sliding operation and leg locks. Equally important are tension locks for the fabric surface and a keystone eliminator for smooth, distortion free images. A variable height adjustment feature means the screen can be adapted to many room and audience sizes. Tripod Screens are available in both AV and Video format in sizes from as small as 38" x 50" up to 71" x 92" in Video format or 50" x 50" up to 96" x 96" in AV format.
